The event will be held from September 19 to 30, 2022, at the Ribeirão Preto Medical School (FMRP), University of São Paulo.
Renowned Brazilian and foreign scientists will present and discuss the most recent advances in our knowledge on the parasites causing leishmaniases and Chagas disease. The School profile is strongly interdisciplinary, as it brings together specialists from different areas, covering cutting-edge basic and applied research.
Over two weeks, knowledge on molecular biology, genetics and biochemistry, metabolism, and epigenetics of these parasites will be presented and discussed. We will also hear about and discuss the technology in place for these studies, such as genetic manipulation, high- performance approaches, structural biology, and advances towards the development of antiparasitic drugs.
80 vacancies are opened and prioritize the participation of graduate and post-doctoral
students working in the area of neglected parasitic diseases. 40 Brazilians and 40 foreigners
will be selected and will have expenses covered, including transportation, medical insurance,
accommodation, and meals.
Organizing committee:
Professors Angela K. Cruz, from FMRP, Ariel Mariano Silber from the Institute of Biomedical Sciences (ICB), Adriano D. Andricopulo from the Institute of Physics of São Carlos (IFSC), and Dario Zamboni from FMRP, all from USP; and Jeremy Mottram, from the University of York in the UK.
